October 22 2010

At the Packaging Industry Awards 2010, Rolling Optics together with label company Rotakett, won the category “Label and Identification Award” for a label application using the unique Swedish patented technology for 3D effects. Rolling Optics wins the award with the label that has been developed for the Swedish hair care product company Grazette of Sweden who used the 3D material in connection with the re-launch of their hair care line XL. Grazette of Sweden has purchased 700 000 labels and have seen sales increase by nearly 90 percent since they were first used three months ago. The impressive sales growth is also supported by a recent Eye Tracking study.

A jury with editorial staff from industry magazine Packmarknaden together with industry experts, appointed the award to Rolling Optics with the following reasons:

Rolling Optics has developed a unique technique for creating 3D effects by means of nanotechnology. By creating unique patterns in the plastic film, light is reflected in such a way that different images reach the left and right eye respectively. The brain then puts the images together and creates a single image with depth. The depth is so striking that it surpasses conventional holograms, and is also cheaper to manufacture.

The Packaging Industry Awards have been organized by industry magazine Packmarknaden in connection to the Pack & Emballage exhibition since 2009, and is a national competition aimed to highlight the companies that mark the regrowth of the long tradition of Swedish packaging industry. The prize has been awarded to Rolling Optics and Rotakett in competition with around ten other nominees.

– The product has tremendous potential for brand building and is very well suited for packages that have a label. I think we will see effects at high-quality products from strong brands that can carry one of these labels. That the investment pays off can be observed through the sales increase in Grazette, said Marcus Peterson, editor-in-chief of Packmarknaden.
